The PFA is a group of parents who meet, when they can to arrange fund raising events such as the Summer and Christmas Fairs, bingo nights, school discos, selling uniform and providing refreshments at school functions. These events all raise money for the school and create a community which benefits our children.

I have two children at St Mary’s. I have been involved in education for most of my life but joining the PFA at St Mary’s was a new thing for me. I love being able to be part of the school community and helping to raise funds that have a huge impact on the children. My boys also love that ‘Mummy does stuff at school’ so I am delighted to be able to be a part of the school’s PFA and forthcoming activities
Treasurer - Sarah Ballantine
I joined the PFA two years ago and became Treasurer and have enjoyed being part of this very small team.
I have always shared and will continue to share our successes as it is important that everyone understands how the money that is made from fundraisers and events is spent. I know how hard times are and also know the difficulties juggling work, home and other commitments but I have found this role to be fulfilling as well as essential for the support we are able to give the school. The children gain from the extras that can be provided and also they really enjoy the actual events. We always have positive feedback from adults at our social events too. Such an important part of primary school.
I really wish more parents would consider joining the committee as it makes such a difference and can be very rewarding. If you can send some feedback regarding ways in which the PFA could encourage more people to join, it would be appreciated.
Come and say Hi! If you not able to join the committee but are happy to be involved in events please let one of the committee know. Also if you have any ideas we would love to hear from you.
I will continue to help for as long as I can.

I have two children at St. Mary’s and have been involved with the PFA since 2022. The funds we raise for the school really make a difference, especially in times of tight budgets. I find it very rewarding to see how large projects like the Reading Lodge have come to life, and I love when the children go on trips or have enrichment activities which are subsidised by the PFA – it makes our efforts so worthwhile! Moreover, the events held in school are a really nice way of bringing our community together, and it is a real joy to see the children’s excitement at the events. It makes me feel that we can bring something to the school which is special and which will hopefully create some lovely memories.
Social Media and Communications - Sarah Shaw
Hi, I’m Sarah and I am a part of the social media team for the new PFA I have always been interested in organising events outside the school environment, and since my daughter started at Little Oaks now at St Mary’s. I’ve thought about joining, to see if I could help in some way so last year with the support of friends in the PFA, I decided to be part of this great team and help raise money for their brilliant school. I’m excited to get involved and organise more extra-curricular activities for the children to enjoy and give them some great memories to remember.
