Physical Education (PE)

At St Mary's, we choose to follow the Get Set PE scheme of learning to ensure your child receives a rich, broad, and balanced PE curriculum.

Your child will have a PE lesson on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on their PE days.

Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) and Oxford Owls

This year, your child will receive high-quality phonics teaching following a government validated scheme of learning - Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS). Through our rigorous teaching of phonics, we will help your child to progress their skills to become confident readers and writers.

Your child will be given a reading book that corresponds to their phonetic stage of development. This book will be changed every Monday. Please read and reread this book throughout the week. Your child will also have a book of their choice. This is to encourage the enjoyment of reading. Your child can change these at any time.
