National Healthy School Status

St Mary’s was awarded National Healthy School Status in July 2007 and we are now working towards Healthy Schools Plus.  To achieve this, we have been working on a Play Project with Barnardo's and also a community outreach dance project with Bridgwater College.

Healthy School Status means that our pupils can be assured of a high standard of provision in personal, social and health education; healthy eating; physical activity; and emotional health and well-being.

There is increasing evidence that young people who are healthy achieve well at school. By gaining National Healthy School Status, St Mary’s has demonstrated that it is able to play a key role in improving the health of its young people by developing the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes required to make healthy choices both now and in the future.

At St Mary's, we really enjoy being a Healthy School and are extremely proud of all our achievements!
